Celebrating KLA’s Interns

Aug 31, 2021 2 min read

At KLA, we view our interns as co-workers, future innovators and key contributors to our various teams and divisions. Their fresh ideas impact KLA in more ways than one and leave lasting contributions, as demonstrated in their research presentations with us last month.

Students from across the globe are empowered through our program to conduct research within their department of interest. They are placed in a variety of departments and divisions across the business, such as finance, artificial intelligence, communications, and inclusion and diversity, with the goal of providing solutions to existing problems or improving our workflows and strategies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a majority have onboarded, built relationships and finalized research from home.

Meet Our Interns

Bridget Griswold

Bridget, our technical communications intern, said she loves working at KLA because she knows her work has an impact. Throughout her summer experience with us, Bridget was able to identify a need for audience education on the semiconductor industry. The outcome of her intern project was a series of blog posts that give industry outsiders a back to basics in how chips are manufactured.

“My work is catered to who I am and what I’m passionate about.”

Benjamin Young

“This summer was definitely challenging, but the guidance my mentor and team gave allowed for me to grow professionally and understand the value of my contributions.”

Benjamin, our marketing research intern, worked alongside the Global Support and Services (GSS) group on the automation of approval processes for contract target prices. He said his mentor did a phenomenal job providing guidance while also giving him space to learn on his own.

Gabe Garbarz

Gabe, an applications engineering intern, worked closely with our central engineering team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Building relationships with his team members became the most memorable part of his experience, he said. Throughout his research, they offered assistance and helped guide him to any resources needed.

“They truly embodied the KLA value of high performing teams, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at KLA because of them!”

Cailin Hamet

“I enjoyed all the events held with other interns and NCGs, which allowed me to learn more about the work of different departments and teams within KLA.”

Cailin, our internal audit intern, appreciated how welcoming the team was. She expressed gratitude for the amount of time she was able to spend with team members not only from her division, but from across the globe in our networking events.
