Optical X-BeamTM Surface Analyzer

Product Description
- Offers <0.1 micron particle detection and exceptional sensitivity for micro-scratches, on substrates and various magnetic hard drive disks.
- Fully automated cassette-to-cassette system, ideal for routine production monitoring applications.
- Produces superior images for visual inspection, magnetic imaging, and carbon wear analysis utilizing its proprietary X-Beam optics.
The innovative X-Beam technology is based on the industry standard Candela Optical Surface Analyzer (OSA) optical system, measuring scattered light, reflected light, phase shift, surface topography, and magnetic orientation. A second laser path adds sensitivity to micro-scratches -- regardless of orientation. The spot size is selectable to optimize the scan for throughput or resolution.
The disk surface is scanned with a rapid spiral motion and measurement data are displayed as high-resolution grayscale images. These images, which resemble optical micrographs, can be directly inspected or analyzed with turnkey programs designed for specific applications. A wide variety of built-in software tools and filters allow zoom scans or quantitative analysis of specific regions.
The Candela 6120 has the flexibility to be used as a stand-alone inspection system, or to be integrated into a production line's conveyance system. The robotic handler automatically accommodates different disk form factors (OD, ID, thickness) and will inspect both sides of the disk, for virtually unattended operation.
Automated disk handling minimizes operator intervention, reducing the risk of disk contamination and lowering operating costs. The Class 10 compatible system accommodates a ULPA filtration unit to ensure a clean environment within the disk handling area.
