KLA-Tencor Hires Peter Campagna As Corporate Vice President And Treasurer

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 6, 2000-KLA-Tencor Corp. (Nasdaq: KLAC) today announced it has hired Peter Campagna, 48, as corporate vice president and treasurer. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing the company's treasury functions and stock plans. Campagna will report directly to John Kispert, KLA-Tencor's chief financial officer.

"We were very lucky to find someone of Peter's caliber. His 25 years of treasury, tax, finance and accounting experience in the semiconductor industry made him the natural choice to fill the role of treasurer," stated Kispert. "Having such a strong player in this position will be a great asset to our organization as we continue to seek out new growth opportunities."

As corporate vice president and treasurer, Campagna will oversee the handling of international and domestic treasury functions, including management of cash investments, foreign exchange hedging and commercial banking relations. He will also oversee the management of corporate stock plans, including employee stock purchase plans and retirement plans. In addition, Campagna will play an active role in KLA-Tencor's investor relations program.

Prior to joining KLA-Tencor, Campagna spent six years at Adaptec, where he most recently served as corporate vice president and treasurer. His responsibilities at Adaptec included overseeing multiple acquisitions and divestitures, implementing a corporate stock repurchase program and establishing an international corporate tax structure. Before that, Campagna served as tax compliance and planning manager at Intel. He also spent 10 years at Watkins-Johnson, where he held various management roles in accounting and corporate services.

Campagna holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Santa Clara University (Santa Clara, Calif.), where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. In addition, he holds a master's degree in taxation from Golden Gate University (Los Gatos, Calif.) and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
