KLA-Tencor Employees Dedicate Dollars to Katrina Victims
Company's "Campaign HuRA" pledges more than $250,000 to needy families

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 1, 2005--KLA-Tencor (NASDAQ: KLAC) today joined its employees in pledging more than $250,000 to help families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Through its collaboration with Metrocrest Social Services--a Texas-based United Way Agency--the company's donation is already providing temporary housing, furniture, job placement and counseling services to several affected families temporarily relocated to the Dallas area.

KLA-Tencor's "Campaign HuRA" (Hurricane Relief Assistance) follows the company's similar effort earlier this year to lend financial assistance to victims of the recent tsunami tragedy. This time, along with standard fund-raising efforts, the campaign tapped into the company's innovative employee awards program to mobilize contributions from its global workforce. The awards program is a unique corporate initiative that recognizes exceptional employees by dedicating $1,000 to a charity of their choice. This year, 70 employees received an award for their outstanding contribution to the company, with 53 of the winners donating their combined award dollars to Campaign HuRA. To bolster the overall fund-raising effort, KLA-Tencor matched the employee figure, bringing the total donation to more than $270,000.

"KLA-Tencor's gesture is making a tangible difference for several needy families," said Metrocrest's development coordinator, Defae Weaver. "Overnight, these families found themselves displaced, jobless and with limited prospects. We're very grateful to the company and its employees for channeling their philanthropy dollars into an effort that is providing instant and practical assistance to affected families."

Crediting his employees for spearheading "Campaign HuRA," KLA-Tencor's chief executive officer, Ken Schroeder, said, "It's a privilege to match our employees" generous contributions and to join the nationwide effort to help Katrina victims. We applaud Metrocrest for their tireless effort in support of this cause and we thank them for helping us identify families that can benefit immediately from our donation. I want to especially thank our local employees in Texas for their involvement in coordinating this campaign with Metrocrest."
